This week in Talei’s literacy group we have been learning about poems and writing in second person- second person is when you use words like you and your. Authors use it to help the people reading it think it is them in the poem. In our poems we had to have the 5 senses, Hear, smell, taste, touch and sight, this helps the reader make an image in their head. We also had to add a similes and metaphors to add interest to the poem.

This week for literacy we have been working on making plays. We had to me in groups 4-6 and in my group was Freida, Edie, Lukua N and Hosea and me.

We had to make up our own play and my groups play was Bluey, Bingo and Muffin playing keppy Uppy and at the end Chilly and Bandit join in too.

My Character was Bingo

After three days of practicing we preformed our plays in front of the whole class.

This week we have been learning about Christmas traditions. There are different traditions throughout the world. I have created a Christmas bauble. This is part of the Christmas traditions from Germany.

This week we have been reading a story called The Matakiti And The Mokai. For the create task Freida’s mum Christie did weaving with the year 5 ‘s and 6’s. I found it a bit challenging because I was hard to make a plat with such hard material.

ONCE UPON A TIME I WAS WALKING IN THE MACDONALDS MALL WHEN I SEE A KEY. I WENT TO PICK UP THE KEY WHEN I HEARD RONALD MC DONALD SAY TO ME” WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING WITH THAT KEY” I SAY QUIETLY, I, I, I DON’T KNOW, JUST SEEING WHAT IT SAYS ON THE KEY. THEN RONALD MC DONALD DOESN’T SAY ANYTHING BACK. I THEN STAYED QUIET FOR A FEW MOMENTS. I THEN PICK UP THE KEY ONCE MORE, NOTHING HAPPENS. I THEN TWIST THE KEY AROUND TO FIND IF THERE IS ANY WRITING ON THE KEY. ITS WRITTEN I CHINESE, AND SINCE MY FRIEND SPEAKS CHINESE HE TOLD ME SOME CHINESE WORDS. ON THE KEY IT SAYS” THIS KEY OPENS INTO A NEW MACDONALDS. I THEN DISAPERED AND NEVER SAW MY FAMILY AGAIN….

This term we were reading a book called, Children of the Rush. I was really interesting to find out about Micheal’s life and also Atarangi’s. You can see in my work (DLO) that my photo was the size of the area of where the miners mine for gold. The area of where the miners dig for gold was 7.5 meters. We had to work in a group, in my group I had Nova and Freida and of course me!

For Cyber-Smart we had to create a scratch game based on are Children of the rush novel for are reading. The person in the maze is trying to get to the goldfield and on the way she had to try and get gold.
